Temporal Scripting using TEMPO
نویسندگان
چکیده
A language for scheduling temporal activities in an object-oriented environment is proposed. Particular emphasis is put on reusing temporal speciications in various contexts, which is achieved through a mechanism of parameterized sampling based on a notion of virtual time. A small set of temporal operators are used to build parallel and sequential compositions of activities. Complex activities can be encapsulated as object methods, thereby making them more easily reusable. The system, called TEMPO, has been implemented within C++; it has been used for generating computer animations, and is easily extendable to other time-driven applications.

Effect of deviations from temporal expectations on tempo discrimination of isochronous tone sequences.
The effect of deviations from temporal expectations on tempo discrimination was studied in 3 experiments using isochronous auditory sequences. Temporal deviations consisted of advancing or delaying the onset of a comparison pattern relative to an "expected" onset, defined by an extension of the periodicity of a preceding standard pattern. An effect of onset condition was most apparent when resp...
متن کاملTempo And Beat Estimation Of Musical Signals
Tempo estimation is fundamental in automatic music processing and in many multimedia applications. This paper presents an automatic tempo tracking system that processes audio recordings and determines the beats per minute and temporal beat location. The concept of spectral energy flux is defined and leads to an efficient note onset detector. The algorithm involves three stages: a frontend analy...
متن کاملThe impact of basal ganglia lesions on sensorimotor synchronization, spontaneous motor tempo, and the detection of tempo changes.
The basal ganglia (BG) are part of extensive subcortico-cortical circuits that are involved in a variety of motor and non-motor cognitive functions. Accumulating evidence suggests that one specific function that engages the BG and associated cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical circuitry is temporal processing, i.e., the mechanisms that underlie the encoding, decoding and evaluation of temporal rel...
متن کاملExperimentally Investigating the Use of Score Features for Computational Models of Expressive Timing
In the expressive performance of music variation of tempo plays a major role in shaping and structuring the piece. We distinguish two aspects of tempo, the current tempo and the timing of individual notes with respect to the current tempo. Those two notions are influenced differently by the characteristics of the performed score. The relation between score and timing/tempo has many facets, one ...
متن کاملSpecification and Verification of Web Applications in Rewriting Logic
This paper presents a Rewriting Logic framework that formalizes the interactions between Web servers and Web browsers through a communicating protocol abstracting HTTP. The proposed framework includes a scripting language that is powerful enough to model the dynamics of complex Web applications by encompassing the main features of the most popular Web scripting languages (e.g. PHP, ASP, Java Se...
